How XRP Ledger deposits are credited
A payment is credited only once the transaction succeeded and its ledger is validated, and only for the amount actually delivered to your address. A partial payment that names a larger amount is credited for what it delivered.
Deposit events carry the destination tag the payment was sent with, or null when it carried none.
Each deposit reaches you as a webhook: deposit.detected while it is pending, then deposit.confirmed with the exact amount delivered, which is the signal to credit it.
Sending XRP
Pass destinationTag, an integer from 0 to 4294967295, when the recipient needs one. It is refused on every other chain, since nothing there could carry it.
Every withdrawal is prepared by the API, signed with key material only you hold, and broadcast once. A send whose outcome is unknown is never retried blind. See withdrawals and hot wallets for automated payouts.
